enid blyton books
i don't know about you but i grew up reading enid blyton books and lived in the world of pixies faeries and other creatures not known to boring humans. reading has probably been my way or most children's way of escaping into a fantastical dreamworld far far away from reality. i mean anything to divert attention from parent's naggings and schoolwork. who doesn't mind an adventure any day and play the part of a heroine? i followed faithfully most of her books like 'naughtiest girl' 'famous five' 'wishing chair' but my favourite has got to be her 'magic faraway tree' series which probably was the highlight of my childhood ~_^
who could forget the enchanted wood with a tree that opens up to queer lands everytime? remember spacepan man, silky the fairy and dear old moonface? i wished for a pop biscuit, google buns and toffee shocks each time the children had one. those were the magical moments which we conjured up in our minds, fueled by our own imagination and the story as we turn the pages. everything we read was directly projected in our heads, drawing up the scenes and fitting each characters into the plot as we interpreted each line written by the author.
i would never imagine 20 odd years down the road to find yet another engaging book that would take me and the rest of the world by storm. literally. yes by that i meant harry potter. there's a thing about creating chronicles which as the restless and imperfect beings that we are would follow the story through and through to find out what happens in the end ultimately. you see, god created us with this need to know, this quest to search, this ongoing thirst and i guess sometimes we just sidetracked onto immaterial tangible stuff for a while.but i must say the kids nowadays are so lucky. every book they read is being made into a movie which they can watch on the wide screen! it's like virtual reality, sort of. when i first saw the movie harry potter there was a sense of deja vu, like watching reruns. imagine the characters you created in your head popping up in front of you and the literary version of each scenes being played out in the theatre! it's kinda cool i think. ok i know... not only harry potter, there was LOTR, narnia and the upcoming stardust, spiderwick as well as golden compass too. see what i mean? gosh i would never ever dream of seeing moonface on the big screen when i was ten lor.
the sci-fi fans had their day with star trek and starwars now it's our turn! hehe there's always something in magic that captivates us. because it's beyond reach and beyond grasp. i say 'bleah' to all those parents who let their children remain in the muggle world for they fear the dark art being a bad influence and satanic. seriously i know there are parents out there who do not allow their children into the harry potter frenzy because of all the wizardry stuff. it's pathetic brain wash attempts. anyway here's to the last book i'll ever have fun anticipating and waiting for its arrival!

freshly sealed and crisp new! feel so young again =]
* will post review soon *
the ending is 'effing' brilliant! just brills mate! love it =] happy ending for all even tho' it was said that rowling killed off some major characters and poor souls like us were made guessing if potter was the one...and it didn't even feel like dumbledore died coz we still saw lots of him in the book and everything was wrapped up nicely so we have snape's history with lily, dumbledore's past (he can be a politician that one) an epilogue to the future woohoo and the actual showdown with voldermort boils down to the simple theory of ownership haaa anyway better hope that the last movie is good not unlike POA no more david yates pls ^~^
last day!
oops no more window view le! even tho' i didn't really decorate my workstation but still managed to pack 2 bags of stuff T~T nvm...ganbatte for the next job!
little harry all grown up
am watchinged harry potter tonight!! liao!! *finally some excitement in my otherwise dull life* =p
ok the movie is short in comparison to the thickest book out of the whole series. don't expect much magical wizardry enchantments as the last movie (goblet of fire) because it's mostly focused on the darker and emo side of harry. the other 2 main characters don't seem to enjoy much screen time and i am quite disappointed. if one didn't read the book this movie wld do a great injustice to it. that said, i like the ending climax part tho' anyway now all we have to do is wait for the last book! have you grabbed yours yet? am willing to bet that neville longbottom will be the twist in the final story and the one to vanquish he who shall not be named >_<<
**btw gary oldman is rocking HAWT as sirius black in this series!*
