新年快乐　　　!

think CNY is a time to make you put on some weight! all the reunion dinners and new year goodies that you have once a year...guaranteed for sore throats & cellulites ;) anyway here's a list of new year resolutions i'd like to stick by *me go by chinese calender ok*

# blog less becoz there's a real world out there where people meet up to talk to each other instead of hiding behind the computer monitor or under an alias...

# devour less meat since i'm not a cow *only my frens wld know what that mean* so the only healthier option is to cut back on meat =[

# give more vague answers. like when you ask me where i live i'd give vague answers like north-east instead of volunteering information needlessly. i wanna be enigmatic and create intrigue during conversations. can? becoz it usually persuades the other party to ask more in-depth questions. haha

# get out of singapore more. simply becoz i haven been travelling much last year.there's so much more to see!

# be more euphoric. really it's time to get past being agitated by minor things which are no biggie. because you only live once!! sigh

# exercise more. because goodbye arms are really NOT in liao.

# be more feminine. should not laugh loudly in public. should not tell crude jokes. SHOULD put on heavy make-up, fake eyelashes, hair extensions, paint my nails and wear more push-ups =]

real job

i've got a real job now because am not able to blog as often as i like and been finding that i have less time to surf the web as well as to msn =p bullocks n pinstripes which means work work work but the directives from hq were less clear as usual and i'm up to my neck still trying to formulate what is it that we do exactly ha! besides the fact that the melchers company which we are renting the space from totally blocks any forms of personal mail, i've been very fortunate to be able to log into messenger at times (the reason which eludes me till today). plus i've been coming home every night trying to figure out how to use my bro's 20 inch imac *yipee yay yipee yah* before i could finally transfer all my files and settle in to the new OS *muakz muakz luuurve my 20 inch (did i say 20 inch? yup i did it's 20 inch!) apple monitor* anyway some pics from when we (with marsh & dla) conducted a seminar last monday at the latter's office which is rather cool because they had a DLA goodie bag full of DLA pens, umbrellas, stickies ....talk abt marketing sheesh

the boardroom had like 20+cups and saucers, mineral water bottles, cans of soft drinks compared to SENC's set of 10 each time? i guess DLA is so used to holding massive meetings, seminars n what have you...


check this out...they had delifrance samplers and red wine for the cocktail session at the end of it all sorry it was not simply red wine 1 bottle had a DLA logo pasted on it! i kid you not they are very into branding..

it's st valentine's day this wednesday

ya know? i expect all attached and happily married couples to know that having planned in advance for this big event like any other anniversaries and birthdays...all singles should mark this day too because it's a day when we all hurry home lest we get sick from watching all the lovebirds roam around town [read: women with bouquets of flowers in their arms and a smile on their face / couples where women have bouquets of flowers in their arms..besides their bfs and a smile on their face]

anyway i'm aware of how cynical i can be but the point here is not how depressing it is to celebrate love alone. i had lunch with my boss the other day and he mentioned that his wife tried to matchmake me with her colleague who is btw a trader and a 35 year old divorced man. i nearly choked on my mee sua. there's a couple of reasons why i choked even tho' it may be extremely difficult to have something like mee sua stuck in your throat.
1. even my parents don't do stuff like that to me. ok andrew said i had to start somewhere given that i'm not actively looking myself.

2. a 35 year old? what do we have in common or talk about? golf and the stock market?

3. look i'm not prejudiced or anything but divorced? you can call me conservative but there's still a stigma attached to this term...dear dear novie since when did you plummet to a new low this fast?
alright. that's fine coz i have well-meaning frens who were prob 红娘s their previous lives too. so i asked my boss what was the guy's response. apparently he said that someone else is trying to fix him up with a 23 year old!! i choked the second time lor...
so i have a theory. remember when you were in school and notwithstanding the fact that you were once freshman. but try to recall the moment you reach year 3 or 4 & as girls you'd always watch in envy when the new batch of freshman arrive. they are like the 'fresh catch of the day' and sooner than you could say 'blimey' the senior girls become known as the 'stale catch' because guys in school would be more interested in becoming friends with the newbies than to talk to you. sadly it only hit me recently that this doesn't end once you get out of school and my life is ruined because of an age-old sexist perception that older guys should date younger women.

if you look at the above example so eerily similar to my real-life scenario but seriously it's not, the lower percentile represents the 'freshmen' while those aged 28 and above are considered the 'seniors'. this essentially means that as you move up the ladder you not only have to compete with your peers, you'd have to jostle with the younger lower percentile [read: considerably the Y generation who are more IN tho' weird fashion sense at times *what is IT with showing ye bum cheeks??* more shapely since things have not started to sag for them more kawaii because they KNOW how to act cute more perfect skin since wrinkles are not an issue yet. ditto.] and fight with the older upper percentile [read: considerably the more mature generation who sport hermes bags since their spending power is much more than moi who are confident since their spending power is much more than moi who are cosmopolitan *in terms of social skills* since their spending power is much more than moi]. in statistics terms:
"the probability of a 35 yr old guy choosing the lower percentile over the upper percentile is likely to be 100%"
simply because youth is on their side and of coz unless the guy can match the spending power of the upper percentile group so that such women won't get him down. yes it gets more depressing. you must realise your position gets more precarious when you move up the ladder and once anyone reaches the top let's say 35 years of age you would have to compete wholly with the lower percentile group [aged 23-34] who has all kinds of variable factors acting in their favour. so this sorta skews the distribution figure again on the number of single available women out there whom guys want to date. IMOHO the upper percentile group will then become defunct because when you're ongoing to 40 years of age you're not likely to be finding a partner to settle down liao. status quo this group will most likely self-destruct and not pose as a threat in the eyes of the chinese society.

oh boy i am SO getting crankier nowadays.（*^。^人^。^* ）note: a shoutout to jojo who said guys are only for the companionship and sperms!! where is the love? T_T

clubbing

nooo la i where got so havoc one?? *blinks* went to sally's club the legends @fort canning she just uses it mainly for the sports facilities...think she hopped on the country club wagon when uob was having some promo so it was cheap then but now she's paying the membership on a monthly basis ahem us? we're just the free riders heh well you gotta admit it's kinda kewl to have frens who are country club members (￣▽￣)ノ hohoho

there's a huge terrace out in the front for hosting events like dinners n stuff and a place for putting (yesh golf), archery, tennis courts (yesh where we swung our flabby arms in vain to get rid of the goodbye fats) n of coz swimming pools

a colonial kind of feel huh? member's lounge has got seats for power naps!! n why i luv this club is that it's not swarming with kids n ppl plus it's on top of a hill (’-’*) フフ

my unbashful chums of >10 yrs? aiyoh swee la!!

yaah so clever rite? gorging ourselves after some slight workout sigh...

their billiard bar is a cosy hangout can play pool/darts/drink/chill and check out their karaoke room savvy huh? onli $10/hr le

betcha din know...

i'm a part-time hairdresser aye? what to do CNY's coming mah...trained by the pros for the pros ^_%

there's a technique here of tucking all that tuft of hair into the cotton-swab thingy before rolling it in n woah *close-up* me poor mom's hair is all white liao!!

ta-dah!! a full head of rollers in less than 10 mins *beams* then you gotta get one of those wella perming lotions

where you dab each roller with the perm lotion and neutralizer thereafter..see me got the full kit! rollers of different sizes too for different curls =] whaha i think i should go volunteer at the old folk's home some time

so anyway this got me thinking when i'm like way past my prime and like an old fogey what kinda hairstyle will i be spotting? then i realise all older women basically keep to the following rules:

# less is better so short hair is the best to maintain coz i guess when you grow old u tend to shrink/become weak and it's less hassle to wash and dry short hair ya T_T

# perming is the only solution...i wonder why you don't see old woman with rebonded hair? maybe they can't last 6 hours of torture on the salon chair huh >_<

# somehow small curls are favoured over big waves hmm this has gotta do with having less hair i think so small curls help to cover the scalp area where you're losing hair *OMG*

# if all else fails use what we fondly call "ah ma's" hairclips, hair web-bun, hairbands etc.
i cld do this if i want half of perms and straight hair! i think she copied the poodle look

you seriously cannot make it with a fringe at that age

i could still have my rebonded hair but it'll look like i came out of 署山 LOL

so you either have short hair and blow-dry it so that it stands up

or settle with this type of miniature curls that pomps up ye hair naturally

keke this is the more demure look

of coz i cld go with a signature twist and style kinda perm then since i'm a speckie gal i cld find matching specs to grow old into...

then CNY i just go to the neigbourhood salon and have them style my hair like this! whaha

by her age i'd prob be a cranky old woman and just use a hairband to push up my 'superman' fringe =p scary thought sia? GAH! do yooou think u'd fare better?! btw 我超爱 單飛比較紅！their dance moves super tacky lor
