erm excuse me what were you saying?
i've been thinking....what do people like you and me normally talk about in an average conversation? i mean we are after all a small dot on the world map surrounded by territorial states and over-zealously protected by the government with one ruling party. this blight we readily admit with aplomb which makes us a little rigid and all defensive on how we can change the world. does this make us true conversationalists when we drag up topics of self-criticism? are we real persons with topics to discuss? well here i am at the ripe old age of 28 i go out with my friends so let's see what on earth do we talk about?
# work. yuup that bitchy boss PMS today. i know i can't stand her too. hey let's go holiday i'm too stressed liao.
# tv/entertainment/movies. did you catch that last episode of 'da chang jin'? what movies did you watch recently nice or not huh? yeah i heard jay chou broke up...
# family & friends. my lil' brother's definitely a pest an irritant if i may add. yah you know XXX is getting married le at shangrila! shotgun ah? XXX got ang moh bf (nothing derogatory of course ;p)
# ourselves. aiyoh i'm having a breakout again. look i need to cut my fringe liao. see the tires on my stomach? i have no work clothes i need to go shop! where you want to do your manicure?
# the opposite sex. go out only la there's nothing between us.i saw HIM today! my bf/husband's at work. yah you think he cute or not?
then once in a blue moon we'd touch on things like
# religion. now all things being equal why would god want me to go to hell? would you let someone who's not your friend into your house aka heaven? *yes so smart answer a question with another question*
# life/dreams. next time i open my cafe hire you ok? i want to get married and have bb. i plan to be retired when i'm 55. my life has no meaning *after gotten ditched sacked or humiliated*
# the past. yeah remember we used to go ghim moh during GP breaks? can't stand the 2/6 people. she used to be in XXX's class last time damn havoc one. yah he was my godson when we were schooling (i never seriously understood the logic of adopting god brothers/sisters in an academic class when there's no blood relation at all and whereby after graduation you are so not going to keep in contact with them. it just seems to me the elite way to recruit people into your 369 gang. how about being blood brothers next? haaa).
rarely, we'd do topics on
# sports. aei wanna play tennis?
# arts. aei wanna watch da vinci code?
# politics. pap won. again.
# economics. they ran out of codeine.
# environment. yeah i think tissue goes in the recycling bin.
# social. eh wanna join sdu?
# sex. whenever it was on the topic of the forbidden fruit we'd say anything was better than sex like after gorging on a tub of ben & jerry's choco fudge brownie.
so here i am with shallow topics and appearing more frivolous than ever. wishing i'm less of a joker than i really am because when you're with other cultures or overseas the differences really show. if you're with strangers do you have anything interesting to share? if you're in a group do you always fit into whatever discussions others have? if you're in a conversation do you always initiate or lead the entire process? and there are times when i have absolutely nothing to say at all and there will be awkward silence. haha anyway thought you'd be sick of seeing my pictures! meanwhile i'm just a girl living my own life entitled to be narcissist and concentrating on the smaller picture. heh. erm so what do you people out there talk about?
