sandman and neil gaiman
i watched the sneak for stardust. it's really good; love story intertwined with fantasy and humour. the back-to-basics story-telling plot but then again many others could go wrong from adapting a film from a book. robert de niro is rockin' cute too 6_^ i was introduced to neil gaiman by my bro. he has the whole sandman (nope robin ;p not the same sandman from spiderman tho' it was referenced to the song 'mr sandman') collection. it's a whole series of comics (not your usual type of japaneesy ones) about the lord of dreaming (aka morpheus nope not from matrix either) but personally i like death more than all the other Endless characters. she kicks arse =] even morpheus's hee

just so you'd have a vague idea what i'm talking about, here's some quotes from the sandman
Have you ever been in love? Horrible, isn't it? It makes you so vulnerable. It opens your chest and it opens your heart and it means someone can get inside you and mess you up. You build up all these defenses. You build up this whole armor, for years, so nothing can hurt you, then one stupid person, no different from any other stupid person, wanders into your stupid life. You give them a piece of you. They don't ask for it. They do something dumb one day like kiss you, or smile at you, and then your life isn't your own anymore. Love takes hostages. It gets inside you. It eats you out and leaves you crying in the darkness, so a simple phrase like 'Maybe we should just be friends' or 'How very perceptive' turns into a glass splinter working its way into your heart. It hurts. Not just in the imagination. Not just in the mind. It's a soul-hurt, a body-hurt, a real gets-inside-you-and-rips-you-apart pain. Nothing should be able to do that. Especially not love. I hate love.Rose Walker in The Sandman: The Kindly Ones

When the last living thing dies, my job will be finished.
I'll put the chairs on the tables, turn out the lights, and lock the universe behind me as I leave. To absent friends, lost loves, old gods, and the season of mists; and may each and every one of us always give the devil his due.Hob Gadling, in Season of Mists- I didn't know you could stop being a God.Delirium and Dream, in Brief Lives

I'm sixteen--almost sixteen and a half. And what have I got to show for it? For a start I don't have anybody I'm in love with. To be honest, I think love is complete bullshit. I don't think anybody ever loves anyone. I think the best people ever get is horny; horny and scared. So when they find someone who makes them horny, and they get too scared of the world outside, they stay together and they call it love.
Sexton Furnival in Death: the High Cost of Living
Everybody tells tales . . . it's just the dead talk more quietly than other people.
Death in the High Cost of LivingWe do what we must, Lucien. Sometimes we can choose the path we follow. Sometimes our choices are made for us. And sometimes we have no choice at all.Dream, in Season of Mists
