happy 冬至!!
you know i'm always on the lookout for inexpensive good food *or maybe just jap food ^ ^* but really most of the time it's the same standard fare if we dine anywhere in town these days mostly franchises...anyways 2 decent food places to recommend (that's teochew porridge above) shin yeh @ the newly done up liang court! there's also a Vietnamese cafe which i must try on a decent afternoon for their coffee drip n this other jap restaurant on the 1st floor that garnered quite a crowd when i was there.. and the other is near my workplace ~ old hong kong kitchen @ square2! dim sum and cantonese dishes yummie
seriously i had no idea dong zhi is on dec 22 i always had this notion it's near cny (oh i think that's yuanxiao!!)...our ingenious way of eating the little glutinous balls is with a salty soup base!! it's deeeeeeelicious! see all the ingredients? basically it's boiled with chicken and roast pork to get the flavour but we get chunks of innards like gizzards in it too! haaa ok some of you may disagree >___T
my aunt's famous durian cake with durian puffs decor!! looks like roses eh?
